MBS (hip hop)
MBS, short for Le Micro Brise Le Silence (the microphone breaks the silence), is a rap group formed in 1988 in Algeria. They sing in Algerian and French, and are led by Rabah Ourrad. Their lyrics mostly speak out against the Algerian government.
Its members are:
- Donquishoot aka Rabah Ourrad
- Deymed aka Mohamed Ourad
- Algira aka Hadjira fezoui
- RedOne aka Tennoune Redwan (left in 2004)
- Diktat-sy aka Ayad Yacine (left in 2001 but still work with the band on their beats)
Their 1997 debut album, Ouled al Bahdja, was the first Algerian and Arabic world hip hop record.
